Gardaí believe that they intercepted an attempted gangland assassination on Bank Holiday Saturday when they arrested two men and seized a loaded gun.
As part of ongoing investigations into organized crime and threats to life in the Dublin Region, Gardaí from the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB), Special Crime Task Force and Crime & Security arrested two men (late 20s and early 30s) in the Dublin 3 area.
They were taken to Garda Stations in North Dublin where they are currently detained under Section 30, Offences Against the State Act, 1939.
Investigation are still ongoing.
Gardaí are not sure who the intended target of the attack was supposed to be but they are certain that the hit was part of an ongoing feud in the city.
Both men were using two different modes of transport at the time of their arrests.
